Data Fusion for Satellite-Derived Earth Surface: The 2021 Topographic Map of Etna Volcano

چکیده
We present a new automatic procedure for updating digital topographic data from multi-source satellite imagery, which consists in the production of Digital Surface Models (DSMs) high resolution optical images, followed by context-aware fusion that exploits complementary characteristics DSMs. The fused DSM minimizes blunders and artifacts due to occlusions (e.g., presence clouds, snow or ash plumes) source resulting improved accuracy quality versus those are not merged. has been tested produce 2021 topography Mt Etna, whose summit area is constantly changing shows peak 3347 m on north rim South East Crater. also employ measure volcanic deposits emplaced last five years, finding about 120 million cubic meters, with yearly average volume 24 meters agreement large eruptive rates registered at Etna since nineteen seventies. flexibility modularity presented make it easily exportable other environmental contexts, allowing fast frequent reconstruction surfaces even extreme environments.

Capturing the fingerprint of Etna volcano activity in gravity and satellite radar data
Long-term and high temporal resolution gravity and deformation data move us toward a better understanding of the behavior of Mt Etna during the June 1995 - December 2011 period in which the volcano exhibited magma charging phases, flank eruptions and summit crater activity. Monthly repeated gravity measurements were coupled with deformation time series using the Differential Synthetic Aperture ...
متن کاملGravity acceleration at the sea surface derived from satellite altimetry data using harmonic splines
Gravity acceleration data have grand pursuit for marine applications. Due to environmental effects, marine gravity observations always hold a high noise level. In this paper, we propose an approach to produce marine gravity data using satellite altimetry, high-resolution geopotential models and harmonic splines. On the one hand, harmonic spline functions have great capability for local gravity ...
متن کاملSurface Emissivity Derived from Multispectral Satellite Data
Surface emissivity is critical for remote sensing of surface skin temperature and infrared cloud properties when the observed radiance is influenced by the surface radiation. It is also necessary to correctly compute the longwave flux from a surface at a given skin temperature. Surface emissivity is difficult to determine because skin temperature is an ill-defined parameter. The surface-emitted...

Statistical downscaling of GRACE gravity satellite-derived groundwater level data
With the continued threat from climate change, population growth and followed by increasing water demand, the need for hydrological data with high spatial resolution and proper time coverage to be felt more than ago. Therefore, having data such as terrestrial water storage changes and groundwater level changes with high resolution spatial helps to plan and make decisions for water resource mana...
